This 1990 Jaguar XJ-S V12 convertible has been registered in California since new, and it was purchased by the current owner in 2004. Service within the last reported 10k miles has included replacing the distributor cap and rotor, water pump, and fuel tank for the 5.3-liter V12, the oil pan gasket for the three-speed automatic transmission, and repairing the instrument cluster. Additional work is said to have included replacing the black soft top, rack and pinion steering, catalytic converters, and headliner. The car is finished in black over black leather and is equipped with a limited-slip differential, chrome-finished 15″ cross-spoke wheels, heated power-adjustable seats, and a Pioneer CD stereo paired with aftermarket speakers, as well as Kenwood and Alpine amplifiers. This XJ-S V12 convertible is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the owner by GenauAutoWerks, a Local Partner, with service records, a repair manual, a damage-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in black and features a replacement black soft top, a convertible top boot, quad headlights, front fog lights, chrome mirror caps, a power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 15″ cross-spoke wheels are mounted with Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock discs. The rack and pinion steering is said to have been replaced within the last 2k miles.
The cabin features heated power-adjustable seats upholstered in black leather along with burl wood veneer accents on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. A Pioneer stereo has been installed, and it is paired with aftermarket speakers that are mounted behind the seats, a trunk-mounted Pioneer six-disc CD changer, and Kenwood and Alpine amplifiers. The headliner has reportedly been replaced, wear is visible on the driver’s seat outer bolster, and cracks are located on the glovebox wood trim.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. An instrument cluster repair was completed in March 2020, and the six-digit odometer shows 66k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The water pump and fuel tank are said to have been recently replaced, and the crank angle sensor, as well as the distributor cap and rotor, were replaced in December 2018. The seller notes that the engine drips oil after sitting for an extended period. The vehicle was designated by the state of California as a “gross polluter” in 2008 and 2014, and it most recently passed a California emissions test in May 2014.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The catalytic converters were replaced in March 2014, and the transmission oil pan gasket was replaced in March 2020.
