Ebay item 9/24/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XJS-V12-HS-Black-Black-/120783899669
Opening bid $2,200, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction. 88k miles.

Sellers description:
Jaguar XJS V12 Black/ Black
Body has no rust. This car has been our project but we have 4 other projects and no time!
Engine is partially rebuilt. All parts we have are included. Interior needs seats recovered and other work. Rare black on black Jaguar.
V12 engine makes this sleek car a rocket!
This is a nice car.
I purchased the 1985 Jaguar XJS on eBay about 6 yrs ago with the with the intention of putting new injectors in it & it running. However, after a couple of failed attempts and a troublesome nut being dropped into the bottom of the engine, I put this project on hold . The car has already had the "hard part" of the rebuild completed and I don't think it would take much more to get it in drivable condition. Unfortunately, This car is a complete car and to the best of my knowledge only needs reassembled.

The Engine: I had sent the injectors out to be cleaned, rebuilt and spray tested (now reinstalled). I replaced the timing chain and subsequently the top/front end of the engine as well. I have lapped the valves and installed new valve seals. I did start working on this project again this spring and have the front and right cylinder head temporary fitted (no gaskets). The RH cylinder head surface and studs will need cleaned off again and will be ready to install. Also, the front and top of the engine was re-removed and the nut removed from the oil pan.

The body: Is complete & in great shape, no rust. The factory paint is checked and will need repainted. The front right(?) headlight bezel needs re-chromed or replaced. Glass is all there and in good repair. The tires were replace just prior to me taking ownership of it.

The interior: The leather on the Front seats will need re-stitched, the wood trimmed needs refinished or replaced, & new headliner installed.

Work already completed:

Tank(s) cleaned and resealed (according to previous owner)

Had 12 injectors ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt.

rebuilt the water pump.

rebuilt the LHS & RHS cylinder heads

rebuilt the distributor & advance mechanism

rebuilt the brake master cylinder

New parts:

New ignition coil included

New headliner material included

New Engine Gasket kit included

New timing chain installed

New Tires (BFGoodrich) installed

Needs:

Vacuum advance diaphragm rebuilt (new diaphragm included)

To finish the installation would include:

front (engine) cover, water pump, pulleys installed

cylinder heads, injector/fuel rail installed,

L&R intake manifold, throttle actuator and distributor installed

harness & ignition modules installed

radiator, condenser, bonnet(hood), grill & headlight bezels installed

seats re-stitched and mounted & headliner installed

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
