This 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC is a low-mileage example of the lesser-seen open-top grand tourer, which is believed to remain highly original.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre HE V12, sending around 295hp to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
The US Title and European import documents are present.
The accompanying collection of invoices and CARFAX report suggests regular usage and servicing until 2019.
The odometer shows just 57,864 miles.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Prior to the introduction of the full Convertible for 1988, Jaguar offered the XJ-SC as the open-top variant. It featured fixed profile cant rails and a ‘targa’ style roof bar, with a retractable soft top that stowed in position in lieu of rear seats.
This XJ-SC is specified in the distinguished combination of Dorchester Grey, over a Savile Grey leather-trimmed interior, punctuated by walnut veneer trim panels.
It rides on the correct 15-inch alloy wheels, shod with a mixed set of tyres.
Equipment includes electric windows, electric door mirrors, cruise control, a Jaguar branded radio cassette player, a trip computer, a rear luggage shelf with chrome running rails and securing bar and a high-level rear brake light.
The Jaguar is accompanied by its bill of sale, various pieces of Jaguar correspondence, a collection of invoices and receipts and a CARFAX printout.
CONDITION
Specific notes from the seller include: The paint is generally fair or poor, the clear coat is hazy, and there are signs of age and use as shown. The interior is described as generally good with some areas of bolster wear and instances of unpicked stitching.
The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults.
SERVICE HISTORY
The supplied collection of invoices and CARFAX report suggest that the low indicated mileage is authentic. The receipts run up to January 2010 and the CARFAX report documents the last emissions test pass in March 2017, followed by a new title in 2019.
