Car to be at auction 8/14

    www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2014-08-30/cars/1987-jaguar-xj-sc-v12-cabrio ...

    Auction description:

    August 30, 2014 auction

    Lot 287 - 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC V12 Cabriolet

    Registration E500JAC

    Chassis Number SAJJNACW3CA144437

    Engine Number 8S053929HA

    Odometer reading 38,384 miles

    Estimate £8,000 - £10,000

    Sold - £15,960

This outstanding XJ-S Cabriolet was originally registered as a Press car by Jaguar at Browns Lane, Coventry. E500 JAC has had two owners since and has covered a mere 38,384 miles from new. The condition of this XJ-S Cabriolet can only be described as superb. The Racing Green paintwork is unmarked as is the barley leather trim. The 5343cc, V12 engine purrs in the familiar way that only a Jaguar V12 does. Our test drive confirmed this to be of the highest quality, operating with a silky smoothness commensurate to such a marque. Only 710 V12 Cabriolets were manufactured for the UK market and it is thought less than 100 still exist today. Supplied with the original handbooks, a history file, V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 16th April 2015 this is certain to be a future classic.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
