This 1977 Jaguar XJS is a black-over-tan coupe that is powered by a supercharged 467ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was purchased in 2000 by the seller and his son, who subsequently installed the engine and further modified the car. Additions include a Lister body kit, a side-exit exhaust system, Spax Performance adjustable coilover suspension, 16″ alloy wheels, black trim, velour carpets, and a Blaupunkt CD stereo. An oil change was performed in May 2021. This modified XJS is now offered with partial service records, wiring schematics, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
A Lister body kit was installed during prior ownership, and the seller states that the exterior was partially refinished in 2020. The car is equipped with aftermarket side mirrors and a side-exit exhaust system with rectangular tips, and the trim has been finished in body color.
Apex Ultra 16″ alloy wheels are finished in black with polished lips and wear 245/50 BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S tires. The suspension is modified with Spax Performance adjustable coilovers, and stopping power is provided by Girling vented disc brakes with inboard rear rotors.
The cabin features rebuilt seats trimmed in tan upholstery, and the dashboard was retrimmed in black leather with velvet inserts. Sound-dampening material was installed under replacement black Feintuft velour carpets, and additional amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, wood trim, seatbelts with red stitching, and a Blaupunkt CD stereo hooked to aftermarket speakers. Fire extinguishers are mounted in the trunk.
The leather-wrapped Lister-branded steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. Gauges for boost, temperature, and fuel pressure are mounted on the engine. The five-digit odometer shows under 500 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The supercharged 467ci Chevrolet V8 was installed by the seller, who states that the short block was balanced and blueprinted in 2001. The engine was reportedly installed in 2018, and is equipped with the following:
Dyer’s Blowers 6-71 supercharger w/ 8psi pulley set
Dual boost-referenced 750-cfm Holley carburetors
Weiand intake manifold
Roller lifters and roller rocker arms
Ceramic-coated headers
Aftermarket radiator with dual electric fans
MasterLube pre-oiling system with accumulator
Weather Pack connectors and Bosch relays
Custom wiring harness
March Performance pulley kit
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, which was modified with high performance bands and clutches, an adjustable vacuum modulator, and a Blower Drive Service transmission pressure diversion valve. The custom dual exhaust system features an H-pipe and exits ahead of the rear wheels. Service and modification records are included in the sale.
