This 1976 Jaguar XJS is finished in Plum Firemist Metallic and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a Doug Nash 5-speed manual transmission. The seller has driven the car approximately 12k miles since acquiring it from the second owner in 1984, after which it was given a repaint along with mechanical work including a .030″ overbore, Jahns pistons, aluminum flywheel, adjustable fuel injection, high-capacity cooling system, custom exhaust, and more. A May 2018 service included an oil change, oil pan cleaning, new spark plugs, and battery replacement. This XJS is offered with a clean New York title in the seller's name.

The seller had the forward floorboard joints boxed with new sheet metal following his purchase to remedy a water intrusion issue, and repainted the body in Cadillac (92) Plum Firemist Metallic. Exterior modifications include Euro-spec covered headlamps, relocated side marker lights, front bumper extension removal, a shaved rear bumper, and 16″ Ronal R9 wheels. The car has reportedly been garage-stored under current ownership.

The cabin is finished in black and features cloth Recaro buckets in place of the leather-clad originals. Other modifications include a revised instrument cluster with walnut overlay, matching wood trim around the Hurst shifter, a 3-spoke MOMO steering wheel, and a Craig cassette radio.

Just over 11k miles are indicated on the 5-digit odometer, though true mileage is unknown. Interior flaws noted by the seller include cracked veneer on the "ski slope," slight fogging in lower left corner of the windshield, a wrinkle in a seat bolster, and scratches int the passenger-side window.

The 5.3L V12 was bored .030″ over and modified by the seller with the following components:

Jahns pistons
Upgraded valve springs
Haltech F3 adjustable fuel injection system
Marren fuel injectors
Mallory fuel pump
MSD ignition coil
Upgraded spark plug wires
High-capacity radiator with electric fan conversion
Custom exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers
Aluminum flywheel

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission conversion sourced from Doug Nash. A service in May of 2018 reportedly included an engine oil/filter change, pan cleaning, new spark plugs, and battery replacement.

Several photos are provided to illustrate condition of the chassis, underbody, and suspension components. The seller notes surface corrosion as well as a leaking steering rack and rear main seal.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
