This 1989 Jaguar XJS was sold at Mark Jaguar of Denver, Colorado in November 1989 and remained in Colorado until 2014. The car is one of approximately 99 Rouge Collection examples produced for the 1989-1990 model year, and is finished in Signal Red over Magnolia leather with red piping. Power comes from a 5.3 liter V-12 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, and recent work included an oil/filter change, new Cooper Cobra tires, and air conditioning service. Now showing 50k miles, this XJS is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer in California with a clean Carfax, owner’s manuals, and a clean Washington State title.
The body is finished in Signal Red, and the seller reports the hood appears to be repainted. US-market chrome and rubber bumpers are retained along with pre-facelift quad headlamps and under-bumper fog lamps. The included Carfax report shows no history of accidents or other damage.
Rouge Collection additions on the XJS included exterior badging and paint-accented 15″ basketweave wheels. A new set of Cooper Cobra tires were fitted by the seller in January 2019. Rack and pinion steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and ABS were standard equipment on 1989 model year cars. Several body panel VIN tags are shown in the gallery below.
The cockpit features Magnolia leather accented with red piping, burl walnut on the dash, console, and door panels, and deep pile wool carpeting. The seller notes cracking in the dash pad and in the center console wood trim. The air conditioning was serviced in preparation for the sale.
Instrumentation includes early drum-style secondary gauges and a 6-digit odometer showing just over 50k miles. A Jaguar-branded AM/FM/cassette player is retained in the center stack, while additional factory equipment includes power windows, an onboard trip computer, and cruise control.
This 1989 model year XJS features a Magneti-Marelli engine management system as opposed to the Lucas system found in older cars. The 5.3-liter SOHC HE V-12 was factory rated at 263 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque for the US market, and is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Recent servicing included an oil and filter change.
The Carfax begins reporting in 1995 and lists registration in Colorado, Washington State, and California. No accidents or damage repair are listed in the reporting period.
