Ebay item 8/12/23www.ebay.com/itm/256178871724
Opening bid $6,900 no 0 bids, 6 days left in auction, seller throbenotoid, 77k miles
Seller's description:
This car was returned to Jaguar Corporate in 1998 under California's manufacturers buy-back law. Jaguar presumably addressed the issue(s) and returned the car to the market, when it was purchased by Minnesota's sole Jaguar franchise, Luther Jaguar-Lotus, for resale. The reason for this particular manufacturer's buy-back is unknown. My wife and I have racked up more than half of its total mileage in 7 years. The car has no accident history, no dents or dings, no rust whatsoever, and has been very reliable. We bought this as our summer toy in 2016 with 45,000 miles. We have added 32,000 miles, and our XJS has been very reliable. During our ownership, all preventative maintenance has been kept up-to-date, with the assistance of an independent shop specializing in vintage British cars. Oil/filter changes every 3,000 miles. Significant service has consisted of: a/c compressor replacement, 2016; shock absorbers replaced with premium Bilstein units, 2019; complete tune-up including spark plugs, wires, all filters, and front end alignment, 2019; *major project* (read: EXPENSIVE) - replacement of convertible top and headliner, 2020; fuel pump replacement, 2021; new General Altimax tires, 2022; Cosmetically in fantastic shape. Front seats show normal wear for its age, two seams have split about six inches each, have been repaired with tape, looks clean. A small scuff on the leading edge of the front air dam, from a curb, no crack or break resulted. A very reliable daily runner, stored inside every winter. While Audi, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Volvo, and BMW build convertibles, none have the graceful lines and elegant style of the XJS. In acknowledgement of the manufacturers buyback title.
