Seller's description:
1996 Jaguar XJ-Series XJS Convertible for Sale in Bluffton, SC 29910
This 1996 Jaguar XJ-Series XJS Convertible is powered by a 4.0L V6 gasoline engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This Jaguar XJS is shown with a Spruce Green exterior and a tan interior.
The car is completely rust free and there are no oil drips where it is parked. It starts and runs perfectly, and everything works gauges, antenna, remote locking, power windows, hood everything. It’s all original including the paint which looks great even at close inspection. Wood trim is perfect.
New rotors and pads and all belts and hoses were replaced two years ago. Battery is 6 months old. Prior to selling, another service was just done:
Engine and transmission oil changed.
Minor oil leak in oil cooler fixed
A/C Compressor replaced, and system serviced
As it sits, I’m not aware of anything that needs to be done to the car.
Why I bought this car:
The year it had to be 1995 or 96 because of improvements to engine, and body. In 1994, the AJ6 engine gained coil-on-plug ignition (and OBDC) to become the AJ16. Post-1991 XJSs are desirable because they use galvanized steel body parts. At the same time, Jaguar simplified the body’s construction, so reducing the opportunity for corrosion to break out. The rear disc brakes became outboard instead of inboard, greatly simplifying their maintenance.
It never fails to get admired, and the color is rather unusual.
An expert’s view, Martin Gliddon, XJS club: Now values of the E-Type have hit the roof, those for XJSs are starting to rise. The most sought-after version is the 4.0 Celebration convertible of 1995-96
