Lot #182948

This 1995 Jaguar XJS 2+2 convertible shows 83k miles following registration history in California and Texas. It is powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in black over Charcoal leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, fog lights, a power-retractable black soft top, 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels, power-adjustable front sport seats, a cassette stereo, cruise control, and automatic climate control. This XJS convertible is now offered in California by the selling dealer with the owner’s manual, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Texas title.

The car is finished in black and features a power-retractable black soft top as well as fog lights, a Jaguar leaper hood ornament, dual exhaust outlets, and a telescoping antenna. The front bumper trim is imperfectly aligned. The front bumper cover was repainted, along with portions of the rear bumper cover, in December 2024.

The 16″ five-spoke alloy wheels show curb marks and are mounted with Kenda Kenetica Touring A/S tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Dampers were replaced in May 2019, and the selling dealer indicates that the brakes were serviced in preparation for the sale.

The cabin features power-adjustable front sport seats and two rear bucket seats upholstered in Charcoal leather. Interior amenities include cruise control, a cassette stereo, and automatic climate control. The trunk-mounted CD changer is missing, and the car phone is not connected to a cellular network. Cracks and discoloration are present on the dash trim, and the driver seat’s lower bolster needs to be repaired.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 83k miles.

The 4.0-liter inline-six was factory rated at 237 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was reportedly resealed at 82k miles, and the selling dealer states that the water pump and thermostat were replaced in preparation for the sale. The valve cover finish is peeling, and corrosion is present in the engine bay, along the inside of the front-right fender.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
