Seller Private
The seller is offering a low-mile 1995 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible that came out of her deceased uncle’s estate. She reports that he was the sole owner until she took possession as the estate’s trustee and titled the car in her name in October of this year. The Carfax report confirms ownership and shows no reported accident damage. The seller reports that her uncle had the car maintained by the authorized Jaguar dealer in Las Vegas (identified as either Gaudin Porsche or Gaudin Ford on the Carfax report) and that the car was garaged under her uncle’s ownership. In photos, this Jaguar presents as a very clean car, and the seller indicates no service needs. She reports that, following a full inspection by the Jaguar dealership service department, the car was recently taken on a long road trip from Las Vegas to San Francisco, then down to Los Angeles and finally to Phoenix.
Per the late Michael Cook, archivist for the Jaguar North American Archives, just 78 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertibles were built for worldwide sale in 1995. The 6.0-liter V12 was paired with the General Motors 4L80E four-speed overdrive automatic transmission, replacing the GM TH400 three-speed used in the earlier 5.3-liter cars. From 1992-on, the U.S. market XJS looked its best with the European-style headlights, but the 1995 Jaguar XJS models also received a rear boot spoiler with an integrated light and the EDIS ignition system, which some feel improved the smoothness and acceleration of these later cars.
The 6.0-liter SOHC V12 was rated at 301 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 351 lb-ft. of peak torque at 2,800 rpm by the manufacturer when new. The owner says that the Jag’s engine is original and “starts fine, with no smoke, and is in good running condition.” There are no leaks or weeps, and the General Motors 4L80E four-speed overdrive automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears, per the seller. Photos show a very clean engine compartment.
EXTERIOR
The seller states that the vehicle has always been in the Southwest and has “no rust.” She rates the original Topaz paint in “very good condition” overall and reports a recent detailing and polishing to remove swirl marks. Some small chips can be seen along the front hood edge, and road debris is apparent on the lower front fenders, as seen in photos. The gold plated hood-mounted “Growler” ornament has a clear coat that is peeling. The seller indicates a crease/dent on the right rear wheel well, as seen in photos. She reports that the convertible top is “new,” and that the headliner was recently restored. The windshield is indicated as a recent replacement. Other glass is described as in good condition, with good seals and no leaks. All lights work as intended, the seller states.
INTERIOR
The Creme leather interior with Coffee piping, dash, and carpeting presents very nicely in the provided photos, with no obvious wear or blemishes seen. The interior wood trim, which has gold pinstripes embedded on the door trim pieces, appears to be in good condition and is still shining. According to the owner, the car’s carpet has recently been shampooed. She affirms the front seat power adjustments are working properly. The automatic climate control system (heat and A/C) is affirmed to work, as is the central locking system. Power windows are working, all gauges are functioning properly, and the original stereo system works as intended, per the seller.
CHASSIS
The seller says that the Jaguar’s suspension was recently checked by a Jaguar dealer tech and had no service needs reported. She reports that the car’s rear springs and shocks and front shocks had been recently replaced. The seller believes the Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 all-season tires had been replaced within the past two years, but the DOT manufacturing date codes could not be seen in the provided photos to verify this, and the sidewalls appear worn.
The original Jaguar alloy wheels show some light curb rash along the edges, and the seller indicates minor clearcoat peeling on one wheel. The seller reports no vibrations driving at highway speeds. The car’s power-assisted steering tracks straight and has no leaks, she states. She says the Jaguar dealership inspection found no needs for the antilock four-wheel disc brakes.
