This 1993 Jaguar XJS 2+2 coupe was acquired by the seller on BaT in June 2020 and now shows 76k miles. The car is powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Flamenco Red over Doeskin leather upholstery. Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential, fog lights, chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels, power-adjustable front sport seats, interior wood trim, cruise control, and automatic climate control. Under current ownership, the cylinder head gasket and battery were replaced and the air conditioning was serviced. This XJS coupe is now offered at no reserve with the owner’s manual, removed badges, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Flamenco Red (CFH) and features fog lights, a Jaguar leaper hood ornament, pinstripes, dual exhaust outlets, and a telescoping antenna. The Carfax report notes “minor damage” to the front of the car in a December 2018 entry, after which the headlights were replaced and paintless dent removal was performed on the hood. Scratches, chips, and dings are visible in the paint, the roof has a dent near the rear windscreen, and the windshield shows pitting.

The chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels wear faux three-eared hubs and are mounted with three Pirelli P4 tires and one Westlake tire, all of which measure 215/70. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The cabin houses power-adjustable heated front sport seats and two rear bucket seats upholstered in Doeskin leather (AEE) along with color-coordinated door panels. Interior amenities include power windows, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The driver’s seat upholstery and side bolster are worn, the seatbelt buckle covers are cracked and missing, the factory radio is inoperable, and the passenger seat reclines but does not move forward or backward.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 76k miles, approximately 6k of which were added by the seller.

The 4.0-liter inline-six was factory rated at 219 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The serpentine belts, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, oxygen sensor, camshaft cover seal, heater hoses, and fuel-level sensor are said to have been replaced under previous ownership. In June 2021 the cylinder head gasket was replaced and in November 2023 an oil change was performed, the air conditioning system was serviced, and the battery was replaced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
