Ebay item 8/10/21
Car has a buy it now price of $16,500 for 6 days, seller sheiladog1316, 52k miles.
Selle's description;
Impressive Flamenco Red color. Rear quarters and front fenders have been re-painted before current ownership. No rust anywhere! Starts instantly and was used as a daily driver for about 20,000 miles over a 3-year period. Overdue maintenance and numerous repairs were performed to bring this car to be a reliable (and once again) attractive Jaguar XJS. This car has been driven all over the state of Florida when used as my primary vehicle and I would not hesitate to drive it again on any long trip.
Interior upholstery and carpets are all very nice, all seat functions work, lighting, instruments, cabin functions are all good. Lovely to drive, excellent fuel economy and the in-line 4.0 liter six-cylinder engine is easy to maintain. The 1993 model year has a simple and reliable ignition system and reliable fuel injection system. The automatic 4-speed overdrive gearbox (with sport mode) is significantly better than the 3-speed non-overdrive unit used in the V-12 cars. The 4.0 engine cars are approximately 400 pounds lighter than the V-12 cars and have generally all-around better performance. Car is fitted with rare Jaguar “dealer option” body moldings. Also has a 3.5mm stereo adapter jack fitted to play MP3 music through the original Jaguar stereo.
Items repaired/replaced: Replaced trunk and hood pistons, Dec 2015. Replace distributor Rotor and Cap, Dec 2015. Front brake rotors replaced with new slotted rotors, new pads, Dec 2015 (33,000 miles). Replace windshield washer nozzles and flush washer system, January 2016. Recover front seats and armrest with NEW leather in Dec 2016. Added additional Dash Ground Connection per Jaguar Forums recommendation, Aug 2016. Replace front seat belt receivers, Dec 2016. Replace front shock bushings, Nov 2016. Replace side mirrors remote control switch. Replace passenger side mirror. Replace power window switches and bezel, Jan 2016. New V and Serpentine belts on engine, Dec 2015. Replace missing and worn labels under hood, repaint air cleaner. New valve cover gasket, Dec 2015. Replace heater valve, hoses and adjust/balance climate control, April 2016. Repair fuel pump and wiring inside fuel tank, Dec 2015. New Ignition coil, June 2016. Added battery cut-out switch at battery, June 2016. Replaced front brake calipers, June 2016. Recover seat supports with leather. Replace four rear shock absorbers, Sept 2016 (41,000 miles). ReplaceThrottle Position Sensor, Oct 2016. Adjust throttle body and throttle settings, Oct 2016. Clean up corroded Sumitomo connectors under dash console right side, January 2017. Undercoat and paint front wheel wells, February 2017. Replace front shocks, February 2017 (44,000 miles). New wheel lug nuts, February 2017 (44,000 miles). Replace Right and left front wheel bearings, Feb 2017 (45,000 miles). Restore original Radio March 2017 (replaced aftermarket unit). Fit new Kenwood 30-watt speakers March 2017. Replace under hood (aftermarket) relays with correct Hella “Blue” relays. New oil pan, March 2017 (46,000 miles). New water pump, March 2017 (46,000 miles). New front sub-frame bushings, March 2017 (46,000 miles). New outer tie rod ends, March 2017 (46,000 miles). Overhaul auxiliary cooling fan motor, May 2017 (47,000 miles). New fog lamp lenses (yellow), June 2017. New A/C Compressor, Feb 2018, (47,000 miles). Replace cracked gauge faces in instrument cluster, (48,000 miles). New battery, March 2018. Repair Sumitomo plugs driver side under dash, March 2018. Replace 2 x air damper solenoids under dash, March 2018. Stripped and painted area forward of radiator, hood hinges, grill, underside of hood, fitted new hood insulation, April 2019. New Oil Cooler April 2019 (50,500 miles). Replace A/C return hose, Apr 2019. Undercoat rear fender wells, Apr 2019. New front brake pads, April 2019 (51,000 miles). Replace fuel injectors with remanufactured units, April 2020, (52,000 miles). Replace cabin air sensor Sept 2020. Repair front light bulb warning failure unit June 2021. Replace rear seat belt receivers, July 2021.
This 28 year old car looks and drives great but still has a few minor imperfections: Power radio antenna doesn’t not function. Rear window tint is peeling near center area. Hairline cracks in shellac on burled wood dash pieces (replacement kits available on-line). Cruise control not working. Clearcoat on right rear quarter is starting to fail but the Flamenco Red paint is “good” (a body shop can repair this without too much difficulty). A few rock chips on bonnet and two small “door dings” on passenger side door (see photos). The 15” Chrome wheels are from another Jaguar and are in "poor" condition. The Pirelli P-600 tires look like new but were fitted to these wheels in 2006 so should be replaced before any serious driving.

This 1993 Jaguar XJS is finished in Flamenco Red over cream leather, and it is powered by a DOHC 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission equipped with an electronic overdrive and a sport mode. Equipment includes 15″ basketweave wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, cruise control, a cassette stereo, and power windows and locks. The car was purchased by the seller in 2015, and service during current ownership is said to have included replacement of the oil cooler, oil pan, valve cover gasket, air-conditioning compressor, water pump, fuel injectors, and suspension and brake components. This XJS now shows 52k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in Flamenco Red and accented by chrome trim, and equipment includes fog lights and dual exhaust outlets. The Carfax report lists damage occurring to the right-front corner of the car in 1998, with no further information provided. The seller states that the front fenders and rear quarter panels were refinished during prior ownership, and noted flaws include damaged tint on the rear window above the brake light, clear coat failure on the right-rear quarter panel, and paint chips. The cruise control and power antenna are inoperative.
15″ basketweave wheels are wrapped in older 235/60 Pirelli P600 tires, and wear is noted on the chrome finish of the wheels. The seller states that the front brake calipers were replaced in 2016 and that the front brake pads were replaced in 2019. Other service during current ownership included replacement of the tie rod ends and the rear shocks.
The cabin features power-adjustable front seats that were reupholstered in cream leather in 2016, while burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, and doors. Amenities include automatic climate control, an onboard computer, a refurbished cassette stereo, and power windows. Service since 2020 included replacement of the cabin air sensor, right-side window switch, and rear seat belt receivers, and the seller states that the air-conditioning compressor was replaced in 2018. Cracks are visible in the finish on the wood trim, the alarm system does not work, and the central locking operates only with keys.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,700-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 21k of which were added during current ownership. The seller states that the gauge cluster was overhauled at 48k miles.
The 4.0-liter DOHC inline-six was factory rated at 219 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that remanufactured fuel injectors were installed in 2020, and additional work during current ownership included replacement of the following:
Valve cover gasket
Throttle position sensor
Oil pan
Water pump
Oil cooler
Hood pad
Engine cradle bushings
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed ZF 4HP24E9 automatic transmission with electronic overdrive and a sport mode.
