Here is a real chance to own a mint example of a historical Jaguar milestone, the factory v-12 convertible. Please if all you want is a cheap ride don’t bother reading any further! I have recently retired and need to thin out my collection. The Jag is the first to go only because I haven’t even put it on the road yet this year and if you know these types of vehicles you realize that inactivity is the worth thing for them. I would rather it go to a good home instead of sitting in my garage. This is the third Jag conv I have owned. Took a long time to find the one I wanted. Needed to be in prefect condition with a history, right color and early example (before Ford changed the soul & Jag added the euro lights).
I purchased the Cat in 2002 at that time it had 59,200 miles on the clock, currently it stands at 67,077. I would call it in MINT to Perfect condition. Purchased from an English Jaguar collector in VA who had it for 4 years, buying it from CA. He was doing a frame(unibody) restoration on another 90 XJ-S and needed capital and space. Have paper work from 10/21/97. Sometime before the PO’s purchase the car had been mostly restored with new (very good) paint, new leather seats (still smells great), wood etc., new top and headliner, new boot and boot bag. The PO did the 60K service, added a number of little things like a new bonnet liner, replaced all 6 shocks, new tires, trans service and a covercraft cover. Someone replaced the original tape deck with a sony cd player. During my ownership I have replaced the fuel pump, power steering rack, trans module value replaced, put on a custom 2” hitch for my bike rack (didn’t want anything touching the paint put still wanted to use to go touring with. You will not be disappointed!
This Jaguar hasn’t even been in the rain since I have owned it. There was and isn’t any rust at all on the Jaguar. In the past couple of years I have only used it a few times. A couple of short bike trips, taken it to Owls Heads Transportation Museum events and the like. When I put away last fall the only thing that wasn’t working was the cruise control. The rubber on the bellows is split. It was that way when I purchased it and never got it fixed due to the fact I wouldn’t have used it anyway.
I have collected some Jaguar memorabilia that will be included in the sale. These can be seen in the picture of the opened boot as well as listed here:
The following are original Jaguar materials:
all 5 volumes of the Jaguar service manuals
Jaguar Parts Catalogue XJ-S Range (cover damage)
XJ-S Convertible Technical Introduction booklet
Jaguar Color & Upholstery Guide for 1990
The 1990 XJ-S Jaguars brochure
Jaguar XJ-S sales brochure from Germany
The following hardcover books:
Collector’s Guide Jaguar XJS by Paul Skilleter
Jaguar XJ-S The full story of Jaguar’s Grand Tourer by Brain Long
Jaguar XJ-S The Complete Story by Graham Robson
Jaguar XJS by Rivers Fletcher (a rare book showing the manufacturing process)
The following models:
Minichanps 1:43 model (in British Racing Green) very detailed
New-Ray 1:43 model in silver
Polistil model blue/gray
Maintenance records from 1997
Of course included is also the CoverCaft cover.
I have set a reserve of $12,999. As I stated in the second sendance this is not for those looking for a cheap ride. This is a quality Jaguar in condition not seen on ebay with a lot of expensive additions.
