Current Bid: $4,000 Ends In: 6 days
Auction description:
This 1992 Jaguar XJS convertible shows 93k miles and is finished in Diamond Blue over an Isis Blue leather interior. The car was sold new in Tennessee, and spent time in Connecticut and Pennsylvania before being purchased by the seller in 2009. Power comes from a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a 3-speed automatic gearbox, and recent service reportedly included a new battery, oil service, and a Pennsylvania state inspection. This XJS is now offered at no reserve with over 200 gallery photographs, a clean Carfax, and clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished Diamond Blue (JFN), and no history of accidents is shown on the Carfax. Several chips and small dents are present, and a period cell phone antenna is present on the windshield. The replacement blue soft top features a heated glass window.
Factory basketweave wheels measure 15″ and are fitted with a set of BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
The 2-place cabin is trimmed in Isis Blue (JEF) leather with wood accents and matching console and door panel trim. Seat upholstery exhibits some surface creasing, and wear is noted on the door panels along the grab bars.
Over 60 photos are provided of the interior materials and finishes. The 6-digit odometer reads just over 93k miles, roughly 8k of which have been driven by the seller. A CD-changer is mounted in the trunk and is said to be inoperative.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 263 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque for the US market and is paired with a 3-speed automatic gearbox. The air conditioning system was reportedly converted to R134a under previous ownership, and the seller has performed an oil service, fuel filter, and battery replacement within the past year.
The Carfax report shows no history of accidents or previous damage, and lists linear odometer readings along with additional service records.

The Jaguar XJS convertible remained one of the most elegant and desirable luxury cars into the Nineties, and it was the only convertible to offer a V12 engine until Mercedes added one to the SL in 1993. While Jag still offered the XJS coupe, the convertible outsold it by about three to one. Jaguar gave the XJS a major refresh for 1992, which included a full-width taillight and on U.S. cars, the sleeker-looking, European-style headlights. Bigger changes were found beneath, where Jaguar replaced the hard-to-service inboard rear disc brakes with conventionally mounted outboard brakes. On a smaller note, Jaguar, owned by Ford at the time, also deleted the hyphen in the XJ-S badge.
The seller purchased this 1992 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible three years ago and says he has added no miles since buying it. He says he is selling now to downsize his collection.
POWERTRAIN
Jaguar rated the 5.3-liter SOHC V12 at 263 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque in the 1992 XJS. The engine used an aluminum block and heads and iron cylinder liners. The seller believes the engine to be original. He affirms it “starts fine with no smoke” and reports no leaks or weeps. The General Motors Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 three-speed automatic transmission is said to shift properly.
EXTERIOR
The owner says that the car’s paint history is unknown and that he is unaware of any rust. The finish is described as in overall “good” condition, though with several blemishes indicated in the photos. No history of accidents is shown on the Carfax, which ends reporting with the previous seller in 2009. The exterior chrome trim appears to be in very good condition.
The convertible top had reportedly been replaced before the seller bought the car. It features a rear glass window with defroster. The seller says the power top operates correctly, with no leaks (though he has not driven the car). Glass is described as having no scratches. All lights and signals are said to be “in good working order.”
INTERIOR
The Jag’s interior is believed all original. The leather seating shows creasing typical for the car’s age, and some wear-through on the driver’s-seat outer bolster leather. The seller affirms there are no outright holes, however, and the power seat controls are said to be in good working order. Carpeting is described in “good” condition, with floormats fitted. Photos show a tear in the carpeted area behind the seats. The wood trim appears to be intact and in good condition. The A/C was reportedly converted to R134a under previous ownership, and the seller affirms that heat and A/C worked when he bought the car. All gauges, power windows, and locks are believed in working order. An aftermarket stereo is fitted, with no issues reported. The car’s original trunk-mounted 6-disc CD changer is still in place but believed to be inoperative.
CHASSIS
The owner says that the vehicle’s suspension service history is unknown, but the bushings and shocks are “assumed to be good.” He says the Jaguar 15-inch aluminum wheels have no curb rash, pitting, or vibrations. Tire age and tread condition for the BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires are not indicated. The seller reports no issues or leaks for the power-assist steering and four-wheel disc brakes.
DOCUMENTATION
The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean New York title in his name. This 1992 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible, a true flagship model when new, is reported to have just minor cosmetic blemishes. As the car has been in storage and not driven for three years, it could need some maintenance inspections before heading out on the road to turn heads.
