This 1990 Jaguar XJS convertible was sold new at Tom Payette Jaguar in Louisville, Kentucky, and spent time in several states before the seller acquired it in 2018. The car is finished in Glacier White over Ibis Blue leather and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated blue canvas soft top, 15″ basketweave alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, manually-adjustable seats, and a Jaguar cassette stereo. Work since December 2020 is said to have included servicing the front brakes and replacement of the front control arm bushings, oil pan gasket, throttle cable, fuel pressure regulators, and alternator. This XJS shows 43k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a window sticker, an original sales invoice, a clean Carfax report, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Glacier White and features a power-operated blue soft top with a heated glass rear window. The passenger door was reportedly repainted below the side molding under current ownership, and the windows are off-track when fully closed. The seller notes a tear in the convertible top and a cracked fog light lens. A blue canvas boot cover is included in the sale.
Basketweave 15″ alloy wheels wear Jaguar-logo center caps and 235/60 Cooper Cobra GT tires that were mounted in October 2018. The car is equipped with a fully independent suspension and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. Replacement front control arm bushings were fitted in December 2020, while the brake accumulator, front calipers and fuel pressure regulators were replaced in November 2021.
The cabin is upholstered in Isis Blue leather with gray carpets and burl wood veneers accenting the dash, center console, and doors. Amenities include cruise control, an onboard computer, automatic climate control, and a cassette stereo. The burl walnut center console is an aftermarket piece that includes cup holders and USB ports. The seller reports that the seat heating function, lumbar inflators, and door speakers are inoperative. The electric mirror adjustment is said to function intermittently, and wear is visible on the driver’s seat outer bolster. A rust spot was repaired on the inside of the driver’s door.
A leather-trimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer along with auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 43k miles, approximately 5k of which have been added by the seller.
The 5.3-liter V12 produced 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in December 2020 included replacement of the oil pan gasket, throttle cable, alternator, fuel pressure regulators, fuel filter, and cruise control bellows and vacuum solenoid. The seller notes that the car is slow to start when cold, and a cold-start video can be viewed in the video gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos can be seen in the gallery.
The window sticker shows the factory colors and equipment as well as EPA-rated fuel economy. The attached dealer’s addendum indicates a total price of $59,244.
