Ebay item 9/25/18 www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jaguar-XJS-Power/132791592848
Current bid: $1,400 reserve not met 9 bids 5 days left in auction, seller communitycsx57, 80k miles.
Seller's description:
Listed is a 1986 Jaguar XJS with a 5.3 liter V12 engine. I bought this car a year ago for $400.00, the small rubber fuel lines that connect the injectors to the fuel rail had hardened and one cracked and sprayed fuel everywhere. This caused a small fire which was immediately extinguished and the owner and his wife just wanted it gone.
I know almost nothing about these cars, I wanted it because of the V12. I replaced the injector fuel lines and the distributor cap. I also replaced a few vacuum lines, and I'm going to replace a few wires before it goes.
The engine starts right up, everything seems to work, even the AC. All the gauges work, power windows work, brakes work, transmission is a Turbo 400, that works, etc. etc. I keep the battery on a trickle charger.
The car has been painted, it looks like a very long time ago. The body for being in Massachusetts and 32 years old is in great shape. There is not a dent on any panel. There are the beginnings of some rot in the rear fender well, picture shown.
There is a leak in one of the power steering hoses, the rack is in good shape, the pump works fine when fluid is full. The car needs to be gone over by someone with some decent automotive skills. I would replace all vacuum and fuel lines, some are very brittle. Most wiring feels and looks pretty good but it's 32 years old, I'd inspect everything.
For very little money this could be a great daily driver or spare car for fun. I've set the reserve price low, please don't bid unless you are serious and understand what you are buying.
