Sellers description:
1986 Jaguar XJS
Well at least it started off as a 1986 Jaguar XJS... I wanted a daily driver that would be fun, inexpensive to maintain and one of a kind. This car was built to these standards approximately three years ago and does accomplish each of these tasks.
I have invested over $75,000 in this car realizing the low margin of return but wanted something entirely unique. The sound of this car is an amazing low rumble which you feel in your bones. I have not ever raced this car or pushed it as I do not live near a salt flat! My friend has a Road & Track device that shows quarter mile times and we hit the quarter in 10.2. I do not know how accurate his device was nor do I care to do that again.
All engine work was done by Performance in Nashville TN.
The engine is a LS-1 V-8 Chevy Corvette. The only stock part that remains is the engine block. The displacement has been increased
to 383 cubic inches by a stroker crank kit.. The following list are the parts now in the engine.
I. Patriot cylinder heads
A. fully ported
B. flow bench tested
C. Larger stainless steel valves
D.HI-perf springs
E. lite wt. retainers
II.Block fully machined to accept the new fully balanced crank kit
A. Eagle forged steel "stroker" crankshaft
B. Eagle forged connecting rods.
C. J.E pistons
D. Mahle piston rings
III. Custom throttle body
IV.Custom Exhaust headers
V. Fuel system.
A.Custom Fuel Cell
B Custom fuel plumbing.
C.Hi flow/pressure fuel pump.
VI. Nitrous Oxide Ssystem
A. Custom built Nitrous Express system.
1. Currently 100HP upgradable to 250HP.
2. Remote bottle activation system
VII. Drivetrain Chevy TH700R4
A Redline clutches
B. hardened sprag
C. all other internal components new
D. TCI torque converter.
E. balanced drive shaft.
F New rear differential assembly.
The interior of the car was completely gutted and customized by B&G interiors in Nashville TN. The interior is a high grade black leather with red stitching and the headliner is made out of suede. The interior is in near perfect shape.
The sound was done by a local sound shop and consists of several amps, custom drivers, speakers, subs and screens. Also they installed an alarm system.
The wheels were custom built for this car.
The following are negatives on the car;
The heating & air conditioner are about the only original Jag parts and they never were very good. They also have a mind of their own.
Several normal dings and scrapes as I pointed out in the pictures.
Poor gas mileage - duh
It rained last week and the trunk took in some water. I assume one of the seals around the trunk needs replaced.
Dash has a crack.
Tendency to pull slightly towards the right if you accelerate fast.
This car is my daily driver and not something I have shown at car shows. It is not a perfect car by any means but it has been crazy fun! It also is very reliable as it always starts and gets me where I need to go.
