Lot #194670
This 1982 Jaguar XJ-S V12 was initially delivered to British Motor Cars of Portland in Oregon, remained with its original owner in Washington until 2022, and it was previously listed on BaT in December 2023. Acquired by the seller in September 2024, the car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and finished in red over black leather. It also features a limited-slip differential, a power antenna, 15″ five-spoke wheels, cruise control, and a cassette stereo. The speedometer was replaced in 1983, and work under current ownership is said to have included replacing the headliner, tie rod ends, front upper and lower ball joints, and air filters as well as servicing the four-wheel disc brakes with a replacement master cylinder, flex lines, and front calipers. This XJ-S V12 is offered with a window sticker, copies of original purchase documents, factory literature, several keys, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a Washington title in the seller’s name.
The car left the factory finished in Sebring Red/Carnelian Red (CDJ). Exterior details include quad headlights, chrome mirror caps, and dual exhaust outlets as well as a power antenna that was repaired under current ownership. The right-rear quarter panel was repainted in 1984, and evidence of prior paintwork is noted on the roof and rear quarter panels of the car along with shade variation between the rear quarter panels and the doors. The seller states that additional paintwork was performed on the rear valance under their ownership.
Five-spoke 15″ alloy wheels were mounted with 215/70 Toyo Extensa A/S II tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. According to the seller, work under current ownership included replacing the following components:
Brake master cylinder
Brake fluid level sensor
Front and rear brake flex lines
Front brake calipers
Tie rod ends
Steering rack boots
Front upper and lower ball joints
Front anti-roll bar drop link bushings
Front shock top bushings
The front and rear seats are upholstered in black leather, and burl wood veneers accent the color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. A Jaguar-branded AM/FM/cassette stereo is mounted ahead of the gear selector lever. The seller states that the headliner was replaced and the cruise control system was repaired under current ownership. A replacement air-conditioning compressor clutch has been installed, though the air-conditioning system does not blow cold.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a tachometer, a quartet of auxiliary gauges, and a replacement 85-mph speedometer that was installed in April 1983. The five-digit odometer had a mileage reading of 1,364 miles at the time of the speedometer replacement, and the replacement five-digit odometer now shows 8k miles.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Work under current ownership included changing the oil, air filters, and hood support struts.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The included window sticker displays initial delivery to British Motor Cars of Portland in Oregon, and it lists factory colors and equipment along with a total amount of $32,642. Factory literature, service records, copies of original purchase paperwork, and several keys will also accompany the car.
