Sellers description:
1988 JAGUAR XJS - V12
ONLY 48K MILES!!
PURCHASED FROM AN ESTATE!!
IN STORAGE FOR OVER 10 YEARS!!
NO RESERVE - HIGHEST BIDDER WILL WIN!!
We purchased this vehicle from an estate of which the owner had passed away. We dealt with the wife who was still alive. There were 12 or so vehicles in the collection and we bought this, 88 Jag and a, 87 Cadillac Allante. We are selling this vehicle as running, barely stopping and transmission engaging in reverse and drive. So consider this a running project vehicle.
When we acquired the vehicle the paint was badly oxidized and full of dust and the car wasn't running. The lady said her late husband would buy them, drive them for a short period and do the mechanicals and then put them away. The car only has 48k miles on it, however, the title reflects approx. 70,000 miles. The wife put all the titles in her name but couldn't access the odometers on some of the cars so she guess on those cars. The cars were parked so close to one another she couldn't even get close to some of the vehicles to see miles.
We had the vehicle towed to our location. Put a fresh battery in it and it just cranked. So we diagnosed the fuel pump as being bad. We drained all the bad gas, checked all fluids and installed a brand new fuel pump and fresh gas. Literally the vehicle started immediately. No knocks, taps, smoke or hesitations. The brake pedal went to the floor. So we just made sure the tranny engaged in reverse and drive and it did. So we are selling it as a running project.
The paint was oxidized so we machined glazed it and polished it and WOW!!! What a difference. If you are really a fanatic you can wet sand it and compound it and polish for even better results. The interior is dry. A lot of seam separation and some very minor cracks on the dash pad. The wood vernier is completed wasted. The passenger window doesn't operate, other then that, its up to you to diagnose it. The sunroof engages. The video and pics will tell the story. The tires were replaced when parked and still are in great shape.
This is a great project car. It needs to be serviced but the engine sounds wonderful!! A lot of great qualities and a great project at NO RESERVE!! The v12's were state of the art when they came out but are now becoming very collectible.
