Since new this has only had 5 owners and the ‘TWR’ number plate will stay with the car, it was first bought from Evans Halshaw, then one of the 10 or so Jaguar dealers allowed to offer this package. The heritage certificate shows it was built in March 1990 but not despatched until November, as it was rebuilt before shipping and not registered until a year later.
Through the ‘90s it only travelled a few thousand miles each year and returned to the main dealer for service. Since then it has been through various specialists for service and maintenance work and has been kept in excellent running order.
The current keeper has owned it since 2015 but over the last couple of years has hardly used it and now has a Jaguar saloon which suits him better, so has decided to part with the XJS.
On the Outside
It is a striking and beautiful machine, the pale Arctic Blue Metallic paint shows the shapes and contours of the Jaguar to perfection. The TWR specific body kit is all there and in great condition, and the unique alloy wheels are unmarked and have fairly recent and good quality Toyo tyres with deep tread. At the front it features headlamp wipers and special Sport badging, and on the rear an XJRs badge, quad exhausts and spoiler.
The panels are unblemished and the paint is excellent, however there are some stone chips on the front bumper and wing mirrors of small blisters in the rear arches and on the bottom edge of the passenger wing.
On the Inside
With only 66,000 miles on the clock the cabin is in superb condition. The blue carpet looks virtually like new and the wooden dash and console are fabulous. All is surrounded by cream leather trim on the dash, around the centre console on the door cards and the seats, which show only light patina on the base and bolsters. The unique four spoke TWR steering wheel is also cream leather and the design is pure early 90s. It has a couple of marks but otherwise is excellent. The rear seats look brand new, it would be surprising if they’d ever been sat in and the headlining is unmarked.
Underneath
Under the car is impressively tidy, it has been well undersealed and looks straight and corrosion free.
Under the bonnet the V12 which was breathed on by TWR wears special red jaguar Sport V12 badges and shows no sign of leaks or any other issues. It starts and idles easily and all appears correct and undamaged in the engine bay.
History Highlights
The car has been very well maintained and has a fat folder of paperwork from specialist garages and parts suppliers. There are also the original service books, old MOTs, a Heritage certificate and dealer brochure for the model. In addition to regular services, notable invoices include work such as a new air conditioning compressor and drier along with new spark plugs and leads, renewed throttle spindle bushes and a brake calliper in 2016, and in 2019 the rear axle was removed to replace an oil seal so the opportunity was taken to replace the brake disks, pads, handbrake pads and calliper as well as all 4 rear shock absorbers. That year the radiator was also taken out and rebuilt with a 3-row core.
Finally in 2020 it had a new battery and last year had an auxiliary cooling fan fitted.
