This Jaguar XJS convertible was first registered on the 1st August 1993. It was ordered in the attractive shade of Kingfisher Blue with a magnolia leather interior. The XJS is fitted with a black convertible hood and is supplied with a magnolia tonneau cover, and more notably comes in the venerable 6.0 guise, of which there were just 149 built. Arguably this is the most desirable of all XJS' and are now an incredibly rare site on UK roads today.

It has had just two owners from new and has been with the current owner since 1996. The seller states it is good condition for its age and comes with full service history and all its previous MOT certificates. In that time, it has covered an average of 2,172 miles a year over the past 29 years, which shows how sparingly it has been used by its first and second owner.

On the Outside

Kingfisher Blue is a colour that really works on the XJS and it is set off very nicely by its chrome alloy wheels. The seller states that the car presents well with some marks, light scratches and stone chips as you would expect for a car of its age. There is one chip to the pinstripe and a scratch above the rear wheel arch. The rest of the car's pinstripes are said to be in good order. The are some stone chips noted on the bonnet, with some wear to the rear bumper and some scratches to the boot lid.

The paintwork does present well in the photos with a nice shine and some of the imperfections noted in the photos could be addressed by a skilled detail shop.

The alloys are in good condition all round, with a pair of Goodyears fitted on the front and a pair of Pirelli’s on the rear. Both sets of tyres have good levels of thread.

The convertible hood appears to be in very good condition with some minor wear present. Upon inspection, the electric roof goes up and down as it should.

On the Inside

XJS interiors are a lovely place to sit, with plenty of leather and wood veneer to make the experience positively luxurious. The light-coloured magnolia interior of this example contrasts very nicely with the Kingfisher Blue exterior.

The interior presents well with some wear evident on the driver's seat bolster. The seller states that the seats could do with some nourishment.

The carpets also present in good clean condition in the photos and the wood veneers have a nice gloss shine.

The seller adds that all the electrical switches and gauges work as they should. The headliner shows to be in good condition with some age related marks evident in the corners. There is also a rub mark visible on the back of one of the rear seat headrests, which is shown in the photos.

Underneath

Under the bonnet resides the mighty Jaguar 6.0 V12, which is noted for its effortless power delivery and subsequent thirst for fuel. The engine bay presents very well indeed and is clean and presentable. It has clearly benefited from expenditure in the past and the 20 service stamps recorded in the service book are peace of mind that the V12 has been looked after over the years.

The seller says that the XJS pulls well and that the engine and gearbox are lovely and smooth.

The underside of the XJS appears to be in good shape as well. As the car has only covered just over 22,000 miles since 2005, the underside has clearly benefited from its reduced exposure to the elements.

History Highlights

This Jaguar XJS Convertible comes with its original owner handbook pack and the all-important service book. This has an impressive 20 service stamps, from the very first inspection when the car was new, up to the very latest service which was carried out in July 2021 at 62,703 miles.

The cars history files include a large number of invoices, many of which are from the Evans Halshaw Jaguar main dealer in Milton Keynes. These include general service and maintenance invoices which shows the XJS was looked after by its previous owners. There are also a selection of invoices from the Stratstone Jaguar dealership in Milton Keynes and from Jaguar parts specialist SNG Barrett.

A recent invoice dated 1st September 2020 shows a new header tank and pressure cap were fitted.

The history file also includes a number of expired MOT certificates.

Also of note are the five Jaguar Service Manual folder packs and an original XJS Parts Catalogue, which are included with the sale. These weighty tomes will certainly provide the new owner with plenty of valuable insight into the care and maintenance for the XJS. We encourage you to have a look at the Documents section of the listing to ascertain the extent of the documentation that comes with this beauty.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
