‘XIB6424’ is fine looking example of a Jaguar XJS Coupe in one of its most sought after guises. Under Ford ownership the sporting flagship was significantly revised to prolong its growing popularity. As such, ‘XIB6424’ exhibits all the 1991 facelift improvements as well as providing a home to the much admired 4.0-litre AJ6, straight six power plant. This is considered by many in the know as offering the best combination of refinement, power and economy. Acquired by its current keeper in September 2024, ‘XIB6424’ comes complete with a full service history, new headlining and a fresh set of Pirelli tyres. With a valid MOT until September this year and a striking and popular livery, ‘XIB6424’ is ready to drive, relish and enjoy being seen in.
‘XIB6424’ presents in the perennially popular and head turning Flamenco Red hue. This is further enhanced by a front to back coach line, a smattering of chromed brightwork and a familiar set of Jaguar’s 16-inch, lattice style alloy wheels. The beautifully appointed cabin complements this livery perfectly with its ample magnolia hides and accompanying cloths and carpets in similar tones. In the case of ‘XIB6424,’ the AJ6 4-litre straight six engine is mated to the four speed ZF automatic transmission. This configuration was originally rated at 245bhp and 289 Ib-ft or torque making ‘XIB6424’ an accomplished and refined long distance tourer with an impressive turn of speed when required. The vendor reports the paint and bodywork of ‘XIB6424’ as “good,” with the mechanicals, electrics and interior all warranting an “excellent” rating. In short, a desirable example of a Jaguar coupe whose stock is now seemingly on the rise.
On acquiring Jaguar one of Ford’s first actions was to bring an end to the meandering XJS replacement program. Whilst they started from scratch with what would become the XK8, they endowed the XJS with some new and welcome attributes. These included a new 4-litre, six cylinder engine, bigger and black tinted rear lights and some tinkering with the rear window surrounds to make them look bigger and the controversial “flying buttresses” smaller. New instruments are the main facelifted items to be found inside the cabin. With these and other upgrades made, the XJS continued on in production until 1996, with these later cars becoming increasingly popular with the passing of time.
In summary:
· Highly original, eye catching and presentable condition
· Improved post facelift model in a desirable and popular livery
· Complete with a full service history, plenty of paperwork and a current MOT
