Auction description:
1991 Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible
Colour Westminster Blue
Odometer 24,021 Kilometers
Engine size 5300
Location Surrey
Country United Kingdom
• Just 14,926 miles on the clock!
• Excellent condition
• Recent import from Japanese car collection
• Be the first UK owner
This 1991 XJS V12 is thought to have originally been first registered in France. Although there is nothing in writing to verify this some of the stickers on the car are in French.
It was exported to Japan where it appears to have spent most of its life as part of a private collection in Osaka. Recently imported from Japan back to the UK it has covered less than 15,000 since new.
The Paperwork
This XJS has a full service record for the mileage covered from day one right up to the current mileage displayed.
Most importantly there is a NOVA Certificate to show all duties have been paid, and the lucky winning bidder can apply to the DVLA for a registration document with their name as the first UK owner.
The Interior
As you would expect in a car with such a low mileage, the interior is in great condition. The blue leather is all intact with barely any signs of wear except on the driver’s seat where it looks like the seat leather has either shrunk or moved, revealing the foam beneath- quite an easy fix we think. The beautiful lacquered wood dash and door inserts are like new, and the grey carpets are clean and tidy.
It appears the centre console wood panel has been replaced, but for a model with a longer gear selector gate (perhaps an XJ6?). The original is still with the car and may be repairable, but is badly cracked.
The switchgear is a clean, without stickiness, and appears to function correctly. Above your head the roof lining is intact, but shows some age related staining. You would be hard pressed to guess this Jaguar is thirty years old!
The Exterior
The outside of the car is resplendent in deep Westminster Blue, with fine grey and red pinstripes. The Jaguar has been well cared for and there is barely a mark on the car. There are virtually no chips on the front, and no evidence of bubbling in the places that would usually be present on an XJS of this age. Only upon really close inspection can you see any flaws in the paintwork.
All four of the 17 inch alloys are clean and unmarked, with no signs of cracks or lifting in the lacquer, and they are all fitted with virtually new Pirelli P600s. The full size spare is in the boot (which is as smart as the interior), looks like it’s never been out of the car. All the glass, including the headlights, front fog lamps and tail lights are clean with no chips. The badging is all intact and correct.
The Mechanics
The service sheets for the Jaguar are written in Japanese, so it’s tricky to work out what maintenance was carried out, but in the bottom right corner there is the km at the time written in pen which verifies the mileage. Looking under the bonnet again it is hard to believe the car is 30 years old.
Everything is clean and tidy, with none of the detritus that you would usually find in the nooks and crannies. We would guess that the Jaguar has spent its entire life in garages. All the pipes and leads look to be in good condition, with virtually nothing that gives away its age. There is no evidence of drips or leaks, and the underside of the car is like new in most areas as can be seen in the photos.
The Vendor tells us the car drives as nicely as it looks, it certainly moved around easily when we took the photos.
