Auction description:

1989 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible

Wed 27th Mar

Registration Number G802BLD

Engine Size 5343cc

Engine Number 8S071335SB

Chassis Number SAJJNADW3DB165675

Gearbox Automatic

Documents Copy of second page of V5C; MOT Nov 2024 with no advisories; recent invoice; workshop manual; parts catalogue

First registered in September 1989, this XJS V12 Convertible has been in the current ownership since 2015 and we are told that it has had a fortune spent on it during this time. This included a full engine overhaul about four years ago which cost over £5,000 and a full repaint in the original Signal Red about five years ago which was paid for by the insurance company following damage caused by a hail storm.

We are further told that the car did have a full service history with a stamped up book and many invoices but sadly all these documents were lost fairly recently when the car was sent to a garage for some service work. The garage then went bust and the car was only retrieved with the assistance of the authorities, the missing documents proving impossible to retrieve. We only have a copy of the inside page of the V5C so the next owner will need to apply for a new one using the requisite DVLA form and payment of a £25 fee.

Late last year the car was treated to a £2,291 spend to address some MOT issues and it now has an MOT until November 2024 with no advisories recorded. The odometer shows 84,537 miles which we are assured is correct.

As you can see in the photos, the interior looks to be in great shape with striking two-tone black and red leather sports seats which are both heated. It also has cruise control and an electric soft top which functions as it should. The paintwork is also very good following the recent repaint, although there are a few minor bodywork issues emerging here and there, as pictured.

Starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site, this pampered Big Cat is ready to enjoy right away and could be improved still further with relatively little effort.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
