Car to be at auction 8/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/534103
Auction description:
1989 Jaguar XJS Convertible
Estimate: £7,000-9,000
V12 Cabriolet that's seen little use since the last MOT expired in 2017; showing just over 72,300 miles
Supplied new in August 1989 by Grange Motors Welwyn of Hertfordshire this attractive V12 powered convertible XJS has seen little, if any use since its last MOT in January 2016 after which our vendor purchased it in May 2016 and put it in storage always with the intent of using it but never getting round to it.
Finished in a lovely hue of blue with U.S style twin head lights, cream leather interior piped blue, wood trim and mohair power hood with heated rear window the car has the typical well appointed spec of most XJS’s of the era.
Given the car has stood for so long, its no surprise the car ran a little roughly with an uneven idle, hunting and when engagging reverse it took more effort than normal to reverse with some shuddering and would evidently benefit from a thorough service, check over and MOT prior to any use on the public road.
Showing just over 72,300 miles the car appears in good cpsmetic order with but a few minor areas that could be improved, as pictured. The history file includes the V5C showing 11 former keepers, the owner’s pack with manuals and service book revealing 13 stamps inc. PDI the last in October 2010 at 66,831 miles, a selection of SORN docs, 13 old MOT certificates dating back to 1998 at 54,564 miles and few invoices including for purchase of a hood bag in 1998 and twin headlamp conversion in December 1998 at a cost of £389.
Crying out for some love and use, these full convertible models can often fetch a premium especially with lower mileage such as this car. Give it the time and love it deserves and it could reward in an array of ways.
