Seller's description:

1985 Jaguar XJ-S C V12 HE Targa Convertible

€ 27,500

Transmission Automatic gearbox

Steering Left (LHD)

Difficult to fill-in the shoes of the iconic Jaguar E-type for the new Jaguar XJ-S sportscar…

Although the finest Jaguar specialists, Chief Engineer William Heynes and designer Malcolm Sayer, developed with the XJ-S a new sportscar which in theory clearly outclassed the Jaguar E-type.Jaguar XJ-S C V12 HE Targa Convertible.

Our XJ-SC is the first Targa Convertible developed by Jaguar and fitted with the fabulous 5.3 V12 engine in HE specification developing 295 HP which enabled the XJ-S to reach a top speed of 250 Km/h. Only 5.013 examples were produced of this Targa Convertible XJ-S C V12 HE.

Unlike most examples which were exported to the USA, this example in Sebring Red and Magnolia leather interior was first delivered in Dubai and is a rare European specification XJ-S with non-tamed power output and speedo in Km.

The desert climate made sure this Jaguar survived absolutely rust-free until arrival in Belgium some years ago.

As Jaguar enthusiasts, also sensitive to originality, we decided to try and preserve as much as possible the authenticity of this rare XJ-S C Targa-Convertible sportscar.

On the technical side we made sure this Jaguar could be immediately enjoyed. And yes, this XJ-S C is great fun to drive in closed, as a semi-convertible or as a full convertible.

Up to the new owner to decide if he is happy with the actual original looks of this sportscar.

This Jaguar XJ-SC V12 HE was built on 16th September 1985 and delivered new by Al Tayer Motors LLC in Dubai on 23th January 1986.

Sir Jones, who was working in the Middle East at that time, ordered the car in stylish Sebring Red over a Magnolia interior.

A full “Protectol” rustproofing was performed by the dealer before delivery. As if the car would see any rain in Dubai… ?

Sir Jones came back home to the UK in 1990 and so did the Jaguar XJ-SC.

He kept the car until 2014 as a fine open-top cruiser, before selling the car to Belgium.

Ever since the car is very well known by us -and our in house workshop.

Currently the mileages shows 127.000km’s, so it’s not surprising that the car is still in an honest and untouched condition.

With only 5013 units ever produced of the XJ-SC, and just 19 cars registered in Dubai, this XJ-S Convertible is a rare gem.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
