Colour: Curlow Brown Metallic
This XJSC is presented in curlew brown metallic, with light fawn brown hood and light gold XJS side stripes. The interior is beige full leather, with light beige carpets, and light ash wood interior accents. This is a rare colour combination, and it looks stunning. This is a 1986 vehicle, and a rare manual gearbox example, with the 3.6 straight six petrol engine and power steering. This vehicle has just come from long term ownership, the last owner since 1995, with 4 previous owners.
Recent recommissioning work includes a new complete clutch replacement, a service, petrol and fuel line flush, new petrol filters, and a new MOT.
The car comes with the log book, service book, handbook packs and manuals, service history booklet, Jaguar approved cars original breakdown insurance book showing the vehicle sold in 19/10/1988 for the sum of £21,640 (a large sum in those days), pre delivery inspection guarantee, original Jaguar road map, large workshop manual, user’s books, full tool kit, spare keys, and huge leather folder of bills totalling thousands in maintenance. There are too many to list, but the vendor would say that there are approximately 40 invoices/bills/receipts etc up to 2021. There are also 9 service stamps in the original green Jaguar service book. We have also included a picture of the front suspension, which looks to have been overhauled, which is a big job. This example was a well looked after and cherished vehicle.
The paintwork on the car is very nice indeed, with a deep shine and plenty of body. It’s a rare colour that is so 1980’s, and very much so suits this car, with the combination of the brown roof etc. The sides are straight, the shut lines are good, the sills are very clean, as are the front and rear underpans. The bonnet is nice, although it does have the odd stone chip which have been touched in with the correct colour. The front scuttle is clean, but there is a small chip/bubble on the driver’s side. The stainless window mouldings are good, the headlamps look in good order, as does the chrome front grill. The front bumper is in nice order which is rare on one of these, and the front wings, doors, rear wings, and arches all look good. The boot lid is in good order, the rear plinth on the boot lid is good (this is also worth a mention as this is a problem area on this XJS model), and the rear bumper is also in good order. The rear lights are clean, the door handles are in nice condition, and the satin black door tops also look to be good. The door shuts are very clean, and the doors themselves look good. The hood is said to have been replaced, which is easy to believe due to its condition, and the rear window is clean. The 80’s style XJS silver and grey alloy wheels look good.
The interior is very nice with just the right amount of patina. This is a strictly 2-seater model with the luggage storage arrangement to the rear of the cabin, which is in very good shape. Both front seats are good and not overdone, and the centre consul, dashboard, sun visors, door cards, carpets, and the light wood accents are all in good condition.
This is a Targa roof convertible, so there are two removable sections above the front passengers and a rear one-piece rear convertible top, all these are working fine and in good shape. There are two tailored storage bags in the boot, where the two Targa panels live. The boot area is very clean and the spare alloy wheel is located in there with a tailored cover.
The car has not covered many miles over recent years, but drives well bearing in mind it is 36 years old. The 3.6 engine is simple and easy to live with, unlike some of the v12 versions, and has that real sports car feel in manual form. There is plenty of power, the steering and brakes etc all seem good, and overall it’s a very nice package.
This rare XJSC Targa convertible model is in a stunning colour combination, the all-round condition inside and out is very good, there is a large amount of maintenance paperwork plus a new MOT, and this all amounts to a very good-looking vehicle.
