On eBay UK May 20, 2018. Starting Bid is UKL £ 4,000 with 91,505 miles. Location Lincolnshire, Spalding.
Listing says "Classic Jaguar XJ-SC 3.6 Cabriolet with rare 5-Speed Manual Gearbox. I am reluctantly selling my lovely XJS Cabriolet because I have too many classic cars. The engine runs very smoothly and it is a joy to drive, with comfortable seats and a working radio/cassette. Since I have owned the car I have had the engine replaced with the more modern 3.6 XJS engine and more reliable engine management system. It has had a new hood and recovered targa panels over this last winter and I have been enjoying driving it with the hood down in this lovely weather. I consider it to be a safer option than a convertible, as the cross bar where the targa panels fit acts as an anti-roll bar. The car has done 91,505 miles and has been maintained to a very high standard and there is much history and paperwork connected with the car. The fact that it has the excellent and bulletproof 5 speed manual gearbox, which is a rare and original factory combination, is a real bonus. This was replaced shortly before I purchased the car in 2012. The manual gearbox is renowned for its longevity and quality and it brings the 3.6 to life in a way that an auto box cannot. Being the 3.6 manual, the fuel consumption is pretty reasonable. It has a stainless steel exhaust. This car has a factory fitted rear seat with seat belts, whereas the majority of Cabriolets have a rear luggage rack or retro fitted back seat. The electric windows work well and there is central locking, apart from the boot. There are couple of small faults. The climate control/air conditioning system doesn’t work, but do you need it with the roof down. The heater fan is quite noisy, but heat is available into the car without it, should it be required. The car is showing a few signs of wear and tear, but it is not new and generally speaking it looks good. The car is MOT’d until April 2019.
