Car was at auction 1/21

Auction description:
1987 Jaguar XJ-SC 3.6
Estimate: £3,000-5,000
Recently completed 1,000 UK tour and in good usable order; rear seat conversion; room for light cosmetic improvement
Finished in attractive Bordeaux Red with Doeskin interior this is a rarer version of the XJS lineage, being the Series II fixed profile, targa topped XJ-SC with removable roof sections and fold-down rear. It is powered by the proven AJ6 3.6 straight-six with four speed ZF automatic transmission. The car has been in our owner’s caring hands since August 2013, he being the 6th owner. The car has covered a modest 115,475 miles with a thousand of those being completed just recently via a UK vacation driving tour. Of note, originally all XJ-SC’s were supplied without rear seats, making them a strict 2-seater, however, some, this car included have had the rear seat conversion permitting rear passengers and is often considered a desirable benefit. The car looks well, but ostensibly would benefit from some cosmetic remediation to the usual XJS places (see images) but is still very much a good usable classic with a current MOT running until September 2021 with 7 advisories recorded, 2 for front tyre wear, the rest for minor corrosion issues – all readily fixable with some time, money and enthusiasm. The history file includes the V5C, 16 old MOTs dating back to 1992 along with the current and a host of parts and maintenance invoices dating back to 1992. Most recently we see a pair of replacement shock absorbers in November 2013, a lube service kit in June 2016 and a repair to the near side front wing in April 2017 at a cost of £250. We also see a purchase invoice for some £17,500 dating from May 1991 when the car had covered 54,850 miles. On offer at an enticing estimate we see little reason not to get excited about this rarer version of Jag’s super XJS.
