Car was at auction 10/06
www.brightwells.com/classiccars/PastResults/tabid/321/Default.aspx
Auction description:
Body colour: BRG
Date Manufactured: 1978
Registration Number: VYN 21S
Chassis Number: 2W-4523BW
Engine Number: 10941
History:
This car is one of only 180 XJ-S convertibles made by Lynx Engineering in the mid-1980s. Fitted with an electrically operated hood, it was produced in response to customer demand several years before Jaguar themselves were offering the car in this open body style. Converted in 1985 and still with its original Lynx conversion invoice for ?4,325, the car started life as a fixed head model seven years before. Again, it still has its original purchase invoice from Henlys of London for ?13,500 in 1978.
The car was restored about five years ago with new sills, repairs to the rear subframe area and full Waxoyl treatment and is now said to be in very good order throughout. It was also recently converted to twin headlight specification. It is now showing just 48,000 miles on the clock which is believed to be genuine but there is insufficient supporting history to verify this. The car is said to drive very well and the engine bay is certainly as clean as you would expect from a low mileage car. It should have a fresh MOT and six months road tax before the sale.
This is a rare car that will give lots of summer fun to its lucky new owner.
