Desirable pre-HE Jaguar XJ-S in great colour combination
Australian delivered car with just three owners from new
Low mileage, well-maintained car
Finding a good pre-HE XJ-S is becoming increasingly difficult so Shannons are pleased to offer this truly exceptional example, one that ticks just about every box for Jaguar collectors: an Australian delivered car with just three owners from new, low mileage and in arguably the best colour combination. Supplied with the original books and BL Service Passport, the XJ-S was supplied through Bryson Industries of Melbourne to the proprietors of the Millers Cottage Motel situated in Victoria’s picturesque King Valley on the 29th of September, 1977. Finished in silver with contrasting red leather trim, the XJ-S was originally registered on Victorian plates ‘IYE-666’ and remained with the original family for forty years, passing to the first owner’s brother-in-law Clive Voss at some stage. Always garaged and regularly serviced, the Jaguar was never used for long trips (hence the low mileage) and reportedly won some concours events in the early 1980s.
Following Mr Voss’ passing, the current Sydney owner bought the car through Melbourne Jaguar specialists V & A Spitteri Jaguar in September 2019 and Cremorne Prestige and Dr Jag in Dural have maintained the car ever since. With the odometer reading a remarkably low 77,882 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, the current owner has invested more than $60,000 in bringing the XJ-S up to the current mechanical and cosmetic standard. Some of the more significant work included:
Reconditioning the cylinder heads (with hardened valve seats)
Installing a reconditioned water pump
Servicing the fuel injection
New electronic ignition
Reconditioning the steering rack
Overhauling the steering pump
Servicing the transmission
Overhauling the brakes
Radiator reconditioned
Engine mounts replaced
New lower suspension arms, bushes and boots
Our vendor chose not to refurbish the XJ-S’s nicely preserved interior, which has developed a lovely patina over the years and exhibits minimal wear commensurate with the low mileage. Notable features include a Platinum Series Bluetooth radio and speakers (installed at considerable expense by All Classic Car Restorations of Brookvale) and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel (the original rim comes with the car). Beautifully presented, this XJ-S is certainly one of the nicest pre-HE cars to come on the market in recent years and would make a fabulous club car.
Currently registered on non-transferable historic plates in NSW, the Jaguar will therefore be sold unregistered and comes with the original tool kit, two sets of keys, the original wallet containing the books and a good file of receipts.
