Seller's description:
1985 Jaguar XJS. I will be as descriptive as possible in describing this car. I've spent the last 10 months bring this car back to good running condition. This is a partial list of the repairs and updates that I've performed. I've replace pretty much all but two of the suspension bushings and the front sway bar bushings. Both front upper ball joints have been updated and replaced. Both front shock mount bushings have been replaced. The oil pan was removed and cleaned and a new gasket installed. the engine wiring harness was re wrapped with high temp tape and high temp fabric tape over that. The distributor was removed an overhauled. New distributor cap. New 8mm NGK spark plug wires along with new NGK spark plugs installed. All of the spark plugs were indexed. It took 25 plugs to get all 12 indexed in the right position. (you can look that one up if you don't understand. All of the vacuum lines were replaced with flexible newer ones. 2 new air filters. New oil filter along with 11 an a half quarts of oil. Both the mail fuel tank and the secondary fuel tank were removed, acid cleaned, sealed and repainted on the outside. All fuel hoses in the rear have been replaced and updated with low permeation hoses, so no more fuel smell from the rear tanks. New fuel pump and fuel filter installed. all 4 Goodyear tires have less than one thousand miles on them. The car tracks straight at all of the reccommended speeds and even in the 3 digit speed range (don't ask). Oh' also a new Altima red top Battery with a battery shutoff switch. The black exterior paint is fading in some places and will probably need a re-spray. There is a small apple size dent in the front of the hood. It's been there since I've owned the car. I might have missed a few updates.
Things that are needed or need checking. The GM air conditioning compressor either needs service or replacing. I never used it as I'm a window down driver. the wiper motor works when it wants to but I never drive it when rain is predicted. The radio is original and it quit working. it has power outside mirrors but they have stopped working, I don't have to move them. The two bonnet (hood) struts are missing when I got the car and I never replaced them. I like the wooden prop I use because it allows for the hood to be fully out of the way. Wooden prop included. I think it might need 2 more rubber bushings in the center of the sway bar but the old ones are holding together for now. All in all a good running car for someone who plans on doing the repairs themself. I will include the repair manuals that I've used.
