Car to be at auction 11/21/15
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Brightwells Classic Vehicles
Wednesday 25th November 2015
Lot number 146
Estimate £6,000 - £7,000
Description Jaguar XJS 4.0 Coupe
Registration K478 YWK
Year 1992
Colour Kingfisher Blue
Engine size 3,980 cc
Chassis No. SAJJNAED3EJ185254
Engine No. 9EPCNA162393
Documents V5C; MOT May 2016; service history; 19 old MOTs; handbooks

Dating from August 1992, this 4-litre XJS is said by the vendor to be "in fantastic condition both inside and outside with all electricals working and has been very well cared for by all its 8 owners. The engine is quiet and the gearbox is very smooth. It has only done 22k miles in the last 10 years and 139,000 miles in total."

It comes with a good history file and was serviced by Jaguar agents until 112,464 miles with invoices for subsequent upkeep including a service in June this year. The headlining was replaced, the boot lid resprayed and the car waxoiled in March 2011 at a cost of £2,000 while in August 2013 it had new rear brake calipers and pads, a new battery and the air con was regassed."

These handsome Jaguars are fantastic to drive and this certainly sounds like a good one. Prices have been too low for too long and they are at last beginning to be appreciated for what they really are - superb grand tourers on a par with anything made on these shores and well beyond.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
