Car now offered at:

www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201810141482892_cars&model=XJS&page=1

Seller's description:

1986 (D reg) Convertible 89,000 miles 3.6L ManualIn my ownership since 2009 and garaged during this time. The novelty and rarity of the Cabriolet bodywork makes this an unusual XJS being one of 638 selling in the UK of this spec. This is an original car and has been in continuous use. I have performed ongoing repairs and upgrades during my ownership and the car is in great condition. With the exception of the trip meter (which will not zero), everything works exactly as it should. The ongoing improvements and repairs are too numerous to mention here, but I will gladly discuss its history. I have a huge file with all receipts since I bought the car. Exterior paintwork is good and very presentable, but not pristine - it's original and the surface finish is beginning to show its 32 years of age - you could call it patinated. The interior is in lovely condition. The underside structure of the car is 100% solid and rust free - I have dispensed countless litres of wax anti-rust treatment to the underneath and cavities over the years. Tyres are good (rears nearly new) but note that they are not the original spec size (215/70 x15) as I could not find this size available at the time. I have fitted Bridgestone 215/65x15 which are slightly smaller on outside diameter, and as a consequence, the speedo reads about 3-4mph fast. I had not intended to sell this car but a new (car) project has presented itself which means the XJS has to be, reluctantly, sold. Location Warwickshire, close to Jct 12, M40. Next MOT due 18/06/2019, Part service history, Blue, 4 owners, £7,995

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
